Spaceface: The group is led by Jake Ingalls who also plays guitar and synthesizer in *The Flaming Lips*. The experience reflects that influence, as it works to bring the concert grade experience to a club level. Spaceface’s music offers a refreshing approach on psychedelic rock, with transparent ’70s references but also strikingly modern elements that make this trick something to behold. Their new record, “Sun Kids” is hazy, psychedelic pop music, elegantly composed. They are touring in support of it nationally. http://spacefacemusic.com/
The Shacks: A pastiche of crafty, laid-back psychedelia and dreamy bedroom pop, the Shacks are led by the enigmatic duo of guitarist/songwriter Max Shrager and singer Shannon Wise. Already an established writer and producer in his teens, Shrager logged years with Daptone and Dunham Records before issuing his own material via similarly retro-vibed label Big Crown Records. Wise, meanwhile, comes from her own musical pedigree, channeling the warm, hushed tones of Margo Guryan and Jane Birkin, belying her young age. Working with producer Leon Michels, the Shacks delivered an eponymous seven-song debut EP in 2016. A handful of singles followed before Big Crown issued their first full-length release, Haze, in 2018.
